Edwin Huston of Enliven Health and Wellness

About Edwin

Edwin brings a practical, grounded, and straightforward approach to therapy, helping adults and couples navigate anxiety, depression, ADHD, addictions, and the everyday challenges that can make life feel overwhelming or stuck.

He is especially focused on helping clients better understand emotions, build emotional intelligence, and develop healthier ways of thinking and responding. A core theme in his work is helping people find purpose, make sense of anger, and learn how to work with their emotional experiences rather than against them.

Edwin believes therapy should feel understandable and accessible. He aims to remove the mystery from the process while helping clients feel more capable, confident, and in control of their growth.

  • Extensive experience in private practice, community mental health, and criminal justice settings

  • Completed evaluations for the U.S. Department of Probation and Bureau of Prisons

Approach

Edwin’s approach is educational, structured, and skills-focused, with an emphasis on helping clients understand how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected.

He uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns and develop more effective ways of responding to challenges. His goal is to make therapy practical, approachable, and usable in everyday life.

A key part of his work involves helping clients understand that emotions are not “good” or “bad",” but signals that can be understood and managed in healthier ways. He often provides tools, handouts, and simple frameworks to support progress between sessions.

What to Expect

The first session with Edwin focuses on creating comfort, clarity, and direction. You’ll talk through what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping to change, and how progress can be measured along the way.

He works to take the uncertainty out of therapy by helping clients understand what the process looks like and how change can realistically happen over time. Together, you’ll begin outlining a simple, structured path forward.

A Bit Outside the Office

Outside of his work, Edwin enjoys rockhounding and tumbling rocks. He often shares this passion with family and brings that same sense of curiosity and discovery into his work with clients.

A Note from Edwin

Feeling nervous at the start of therapy is completely normal; it’s actually a healthy emotional response to stepping into something new.

Edwin sees therapy as a journey of discovery, where clients learn to understand their emotions, challenge fear-based thinking, and build stronger internal tools for navigating life. He often reminds clients that “sometimes the shadow on the wall looks like a dragon, but with curiosity and courage, you may find it’s a bunny sitting in front of a candle.”
