About Kim

Kim Wall is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with over 30 years of experience in social work and approximately 5 years in private practice. She has a particular passion for working with older adults, individuals exploring purpose and identity at different life stages, and those facing aging-related concerns or end-of-life transitions. Kim is also committed to providing a safe, affirming space for LGBTQIA+ individuals and others seeking support through difficult or deeply personal experiences.

Kim believes that personal growth and meaningful change are possible at any stage of life.

Approach

Kim’s approach is collaborative, supportive, and grounded in the belief that each client is the author of their own story.

She integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients better understand their experiences, process trauma, and develop practical strategies for coping and growth.

Kim often takes on a coaching-oriented stance, helping clients identify motivation, build resilience, and view setbacks as a natural part of the change process. She emphasizes curiosity, reflection, and lifelong learning as core components of healing and personal development.

Her role is to offer support, perspective, and thoughtful questions that help clients discover new insights and strengthen their own sense of direction.

What to Expect

In the early sessions, Kim focuses on building rapport and creating a comfortable, nonjudgmental space where clients can begin sharing at their own pace.

Initial sessions are informal and centered on getting to know you, your background, and what brings you into therapy. There is no pressure to disclose anything before you are ready.

From there, therapy becomes a collaborative process of exploring challenges, identifying goals, and developing tools to support emotional well-being and life transitions.

A Bit Outside the Office

Outside of her work, Kim enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, visiting her children in Cincinnati, New Orleans and Los Angeles, and caring for her rescue dog. She also values travel, family connection, and time spent in meaningful personal relationships.

A Note from Kim

Kim understands that starting therapy can feel uncertain or vulnerable. She prioritizes creating a safe, supportive environment where clients feel comfortable and respected from the beginning.

She emphasizes that there is no judgment in the therapeutic space; only support, understanding, and a belief in your capacity for growth and change at any stage of life.
